Father’s Day
This is a true event that happened on Sunday the 20th at Salvation Army Shelter.
The shelter filled up and there were no more beds available. An older man asked us if we knew where he could take a shower. It had been 3 weeks since he had one. We called 211(Orange County's Info Link) and asked where he might go to shower. We were told the next available time would be the following Tuesday, June 22, 3pm at a Presbyterian Church on Fairview. That is an example of how limited the resources are for the Homeless in the Santa Ana area. Only one emergency shelter in all of Orange County for men. All the others require working or rent up front. This is why what you do as a volunteer with Clothing the Homeless is so appreciated. It really does make a difference! We give them nice clothes, talk to them and call them by their name. We offer to pray for them. That particular day we had gifts for every father and wished them a Happy Father's Day. We asked about their children. We cared about them as people. Your involvement to help pay for the storage units and by joining us out on the front lines really does show the Body of Christ at work. God has blessed us so much and these folks have so little. Lets work together to Be the Church –
We need you!

A Woman in Need
Sue Sonnenberg is partnering with a Prison Fellowship and is working to get appropriate clothing for women who are inmates being released. These clothes will be worn to go home on the bus or train. The prison is hoping that, with dignified clothing, they will not be swarmed by every drug dealer at the stations. We are asking for 3 articles of clothing for each women: a pair of slacks or jeans, a long sleeved or 3/4 length sleeved top and a camisole or tank top, since they have no undergarments. They can be used, just clean and pressed and in good condition. Hopefully, in your closet or as you shop, you can put together one outfit for a woman who is ready to start a new life. Sizes needed are L, XL, XXL, and 3X. Please put them in separate bags and mark the size and “CIW for Women.” You can leave them at the Clothing the Homeless table. This outfit will be a sign of love to the inmate who is now ready to start over again. Thank you for your love, kindness and willingness to respond to this need.
